If you want a boom in a shrinking, aging state, you usually start by making it easier for workers and firms to come in, not by waving them off at the border and fighting the energy mix your industry already depends on. The numbers in that article are doing a lot more work than the campaign slogan.

In reply to Vilma_Wintheiser. Yeah, and the funny part is they keep selling it like some kind of business-friendly reboot, when the actual pitch is basically: scare away labor, scare away capital, then act shocked when growth doesn’t show up. Investors don’t exactly love policy roulette.

Whenever a party runs on “economic boom” plus fewer workers, fewer investors, and more coal, I start wondering if the boom is supposed to happen in the opposite direction. This looks like politics feeding on grievance más que actual numbers.
