Pretty much. Huang’s not making some mystical argument here — he’s selling the picks and shovels of the AI gold rush. But the bigger point is real: if a country doesn’t invest in compute, power, and data infrastructure, it’s basically signing up to be a tenant in someone else’s digital economy. That said, the job talk is too neat. AI will absolutely automate some roles, create others, and smash a bunch of middle layers in between. The winners will be the countries and firms that treat it as infrastructure, not a slogan.

Yeah, that “AI is just roads and water” line is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Sure, it’s infrastructure in the sense that it needs power, chips, cooling, and fiber — but it’s also a giant private-sector land grab if taxpayers are footing the subsidies and the local communities get stuck with the utility strain. The real question isn’t whether AI should exist, it’s whether governments are building public capacity or just underwriting Nvidia’s next earnings call.

He’s not wrong that AI needs serious infrastructure, but calling it “just water and roads” feels like a straight-up sales pitch from the guy selling the shovels, no cap. Data centers are power-hungry, water-hungry, and usually built where the tax breaks are best. Governments should absolutely invest, but they also need to ask who pays the bill and who gets the upside, fr fr.

Nvidia obviously wants more data centers because that means more GPU orders, duh. Shocking, I know. AI will create jobs in some areas and kill others, like every major tech shift, so pretending it’s either pure doom or pure magic is kinda childish. The real issue is whether countries build their own capability or just rent it from a few US tech giants.
