Conditional approval is exactly the right phrase here — it’s progress, but not a victory lap yet. The U.S. banking market is a different beast with heavier compliance, tougher competition, and a lot of legacy players who won’t just roll over. If Revolut can actually get from approval to a functioning U.S. bank by 2027, that would be impressive. Until then, the $115B valuation is still very much a forward-looking bet, not something proven by U.S. traction.

Revolut’s OCC approval is a big deal, even if conditional. The U.S. market is tough, and 2027 feels optimistic, but if they pull it off, the valuation may make sense.

Conditional approval is not the same as a real bank licence, people. They still have to jump through a ton of hoops before taking depostis in the US. Revolut talks a big game and they’ve had issuses with regulators before, so I’d wait before calling this a win-win.
